A Friday Worth Celebrating.  By Christina Cannon.

John 19:30 NASB

“Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.”
It is for good reason that we rejoice on Good Friday; our sins were paid in full by Jesus’ death on the cross. It  was finished on that day long ago.  His death on the cross was payment for every one of our sins.  Every one of our wrongs.  Yes, everyone’s sins, not just a few.  None of us were worthy to receive such a gift.  He died for everyone!  He was the forever sacrifice.  Jesus’ death on that cross atoned for our sins once and for all.  He was the ultimate and final sacrifice.
John 3:16-17 NASB
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.”
You may wonder, “Why do we celebrate His death?”  Why would anyone celebrate someone dying?   We celebrate the love that Jesus demonstrated by dying for us.  He took our place on the cross.  We celebrate that we get what we did not deserve: forgiveness.  Forgiveness is a gift that we can never repay.  It is underserved.  We did nothing for it.  Jesus did it all.
We are to celebrate with gratitude the great gift that was given us.  Jesus rescued us!  That is worth celebrating!
Wait, there is more.  The tomb is empty!  He lives!
A Sunday to Glory In
Mark 16:5-6 NASB
“And as they stepped into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right, dressed in a long white robe. The women were startled and amazed. But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid. I know that you’re here looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here—He has risen victoriously! Look! See the place where they laid Him.”
Jesus took our sins to the grave, and He arose on that 3rd day so that we would have life.
2 Cor 5:15 NASB
“and He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.”
As we celebrate Resurrection Sunday, remember why we celebrate.  It was Jesus’ death on the cross that paid for our sins once and for all.  It is in His death and resurrection that we have life.  When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we invite Him to live within us.
We will never be able to repay what was done for us on that dark day.  But, our lives can be lived in a way that reflects what was gifted to us.  Let us not forget or take lightly the sacrifice that was made on the cross.  We must acknowledge the sacrifice made for us not just once a year but daily.
Let’s honor God daily by living our lives in a manner that reflects a life filled with gratitude.  A life that has been forgiven and set free from the bondage of sin and death!
