A Mission of Love. By Dani Bukta.
My husband, Mike, and I were on the mission field for 20 years. We served in Peru and Ecuador with our two daughters planting churches. In 2020, my husband and I went to Ethiopia to train churches in how to develop a leader through an evangelize method called Relational Evangelism. We served in Ethiopia for 3 years and then came back to Prescott to take care of my elderly parents. When we were in Ethiopia, I prayed to God asking Him to give me a ministry in the United States because I knew I didn’t want to stop serving Him!
Your mission field is where God puts you. My husband started pastoring a local church in Prescott, where we met John and Terri Olson. They introduced us to Hearts Being Healed and our church participated in the first HBH conference in Prescott last year. I am very cautious about conferences because I feel like a lot of them are not what I am looking for.
However, when I went to my first HBH conference, I knew the Holy Spirit was in it! It’s not like any other conference I have ever been to before. Having speakers that were not professionals and hearing their testimonies made it more sincere and authentic.
Also, how we were all treated throughout the conference made you feel special and loved. You could feel the Holy Spirit and the love that these women had not only for Jesus but for us as well. I also appreciated that nothing was being sold and they were not promoting merchandise.
The most important thing for me is that this conference is not a one and done deal. The relationships that God puts together encourages ongoing fellowship and discipleship.
I invited our oldest daughter to attend and then I asked what she thought about the conference. She said that it was amazing and that she didn’t know what to expect but was blessed! My daughter mentioned how the group of men praying over the women and serving them was extremely powerful and something she has never experienced before. God is good all the time and all the time God is good.
Galatians 6:2
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
1 John 1:7
“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
Colossians 2:2
“…that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ..”
After the conference, I was invited to be on the board because they were looking to expand and start a board in Prescott. After seeking God in prayer and much consideration, I believed it was what God wanted me to do. I committed myself to one year to see what God’s plan was.
Being part of the prayer team for the conference has been a blessing. The relationships that are being built and how dedicated these women are in helping others is very encouraging. Getting to know other board members has also been an answer to prayers.
These women are authentic disciples of Christ, and I am looking forward to seeing how God grows both the lives of my sisters in Christ and the ministry of Hearts Being Healed. I look forward to continuing being on the board and meeting new board members; maybe God is calling YOU!
John 13:35
“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
