We go to conferences for various reasons: to be with friends, we were invited and didn’t know how to say ‘no’. Perhaps, it was the speakers or the women who also came. Unknowingly, I think we all come looking for hope and a way out of our mess.
For me conferences were hard. I sat in the back where I knew the exits were just in case. I felt most alone here even though I was with people I knew. I heard testimonies of victory, and I saw life in the speakers. So, why didn’t I feel this victory; I knew Jesus too. At least I thought I did.
I felt like the woman at the well, still coming for water, but not meeting Jesus like she did. And I kept coming, not realizing that He was always there waiting for me to look up. I had once again come for water, and I don’t know what happened, but I met Jesus. I saw Him there waiting for me. He was dressed differently, but I recognized His voice.
I had seen Him only as my Savior, but now He was my Deliverer. There was no “aha” moment but something changed.
I got involved in Hearts Being Healed aftercare, Treasures out of Trauma. The ‘me’ I was created to be, started to emerge. He challenged me to be honest, to forgive, to believe Him. This all sounds so easy, and at times it was, and then there were times when it was difficult.
Perhaps you are saying to yourself; ‘you don’t know my mess’.
We all have mess.
At these conferences we are all coming to a well for water, yet the Lord is also waiting to meet us and really give us water that works.
Hearts Being Healed opened the door for me into Treasures out of Trauma. It is there that the Lord does the detailed work of freedom. It didn’t all happen at once, nor is it finished, but what He started he is continuing to this day.
