“FALLing” Into Surrender. By Rhonda Kamps.
Fall, the beautiful change of seasons. I love cool mornings, hot coffee and the colors of fall. A beginning of a pruning season. Bright colors fade away for vibrant rich oranges, reds, yellows and brown. Leaves and color fall by the wayside and branches revealed. Time to bring our pruning shears. Off with old to make space of the new.
What do you love about fall……reflect on the following “FALLisms” (my made up word. I know some of proper English peeps are grimacing.)
Are you FALLing more in love with Jesus or are you FALLing out of love with Jesus?
Are you FALLing in love with reading scripture or are you FALLing out of your reading plan?
Are you FALLing into daily prayer or are you FALLing out of praying at all? (1 Peter 1:24-25)
Are you FALLing on your knees worshiping the King or you FALLing into not worshiping the King? (Psalms 92:1-2)
What is your FALLing statement?
What is God asking you to FALL into or Fall out of???
John 12:24- Assuredly, I say unto you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone , but if it dies, it produces much grain.
Are you dying to self ? Where are you being pruned? Is it painful? Pruning in our life can relieve us of carrying unnecessary burdens, traumas, experiences, and fears. Being weighted down with overgrowth is burdensome and eventually will choke you out, wither and die.
Most of us can repeat John 15:5- “God is the vine and we are the branches”.. but go further. He who abides in (falls into) Me and I in you. “FALLing” into Jesus and clinging to the “vine of Christ”, we are called to be faithful to “FALL” into Jesus continually. Continually “FALLing” into worship, prayer and reading His word. The more you do these things, the more fruit you will bear. Letting Him cut those branches that are not yielding fruit. Letting Him put those branches in the fire to be burned. If we do not allow the pruning process, the branches wither on the vine, eventually becoming burdensome, the weight heavy, and the branch breaks. Separating us from God. He deeply loves you.
John 15: 9- As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you, abide (FALL into) in My love.
During this Fall season, ponder and reflect on what God is wanting to prune in your life. Are you in prayer, surrendering it all to Him? Are you spending time worshiping and being grateful for all He has done and doing in your life? Are you engaging in His word? Learning more about Him? Developing a deeper relationship? He wants the very best for you.
John 15:11- These things I have spoken to You, that My joy may remain in you and that your joy my be full.
So my beautiful friends, as you are enjoying that hot beverage, a cozy sweater or blanket, watching the colors change, embrace the season that God is pruning in your life.
Shalom
