Our Chico Hearts Being Healed Board would like to take this moment to thank our faithful volunteers and many, many HBH Chico Conference attendees over these past 21 years, and any other followers. Our hearts are so grateful for all of you.
Isaiah 9:6: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
We are so thankful for God’s gift to us: His one and only Son, Jesus, who humbled himself from His seat of authority in Heaven to become a human infant born in a crude environment so that He could experience everything that we as humans will ever experience. We are in reverent awe of Jesus: His willingness to humble himself unto death on the cross, taking our sins once and for all to the place of death, and then He Himself raising to Life again, allowing us to become the redeemed children of God, beautiful and precious to Him, dressed in robes of the righteousness of Jesus.
Each of us has selected one of our favorite Christmas songs, accompanied by a brief explanation of why this song means so much to us. We encourage you to set aside a few minutes here and there at various times in these next four days to really listen to the message in each a song as you make your final preparations for Christmas.
May your BLESSINGS be many, may your JOY be great! – with LOVE from Chico HBH Board
O Come O Come Emmanuel – Laura Carson
I have always loved and appreciated this Christmas Carol. I came to know the Lord when I was 14 years old, and I fully understood , Emmanuel, God with us. Not just an infant in a manger. What a joy!
Noel – Jacqueline Pugh
This song is precious to me because it captures the reason we celebrate this day. Isaiah 9:6
- Joy to the World – Rhonda Kamps
The birth of Jesus is to be celebrated throughout the world. Proclaiming the promised Messiah is born is a joyous event. Christ followers should shout this anthem.
Mary Did You Know – Arlene Hendriks
It was a heart-stopping, mind- boggling, breath-taking impossible announcement made by an angel to a young, unmarried woman, “You’re going to have a baby, and He will be the Messiah everyone has longed for.” But you took it in stride and replied, “Behold the bond-slave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.”
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – Shirley Sprehn
I chose this song for the message of truth in why I celebrate Christmas as I do. Blessings.
What Child Is This – Terrie Olson
Take time to reflect on who Jesus truly is, and who He is to you.
Little Drummer Boy – Donna Hottinger
This song reminds me that Jesus doesn’t expect a material gift from me. He expects me to do my best for Him in what I say or do. He loves me even though I have nothing but myself to give Him. This song blesses my soul every time I hear it.
Do You Hear What I Hear – Patty Travis
This was Jonathan’s favorite song and became my favorite. Jonathan passed in May 2018 so this song always brings memories of him and the assurance I will see him again all because of the Child who was born to become our Savior.
Somewhere In Your Silent Night – Shannon Smith
If it wasn’t for the Lord, my brokenness day and night would have destroyed me completely! But God…
The Miracle of Christmas – Christina Cannon
I love the words. He is our miracle. The focus is on our Savior and our Rescuer. He still speaks to our hearts today!
Mary Did You Know – Janet Henman
Luke 1:37-38
37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
(This is a different performance than the first posted link to this song, giving you a different experience as you listen.)
Hallelujah Chorus – Melinda Skau
My favorite Christmas piece is the Hallelujah Chorus of Handel’s Messiah! I just love the “King of Kings” and “Lord of Lords” proclamation “and He shall reign forever and ever!!!”
Lamb . . . is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful.” (Revelation 17:14 reference)
We are called and chosen. Let us remain faithful!
