Got Plans? By Christina Cannon.
Many of you have already made plans for this year: plans to travel, plans to expand your family, plans for marriage, plans for a new job, plans to lose weight, get healthier, etc. We have made plans for many things. Do those plans include God’s will?
What if we made plans to deepen our faith to grow in wisdom and intimacy with our Father? Proverbs 16:3 ESV tells us to
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
When we release our plans with hands open, loosening our grip, and allowing God’s plans to interrupt our lives, God will establish those plans when they align with His will for our lives.
The key here is that we must be intentional in seeking Him and His will. We must surrender our desires and be willing to adjust what we want for what He desires. When what we want matches what God wants, His/our plans will be established.
Knowing God’s plan for our lives involves knowing Him intimately. It involves everyday conversations and time spent with Him. How can we expect to know what He wants for us if we do not spend time getting to know Him? Is it realistic to have an expectation of knowing His will when we don’t know Him very well?
Christianity is about relationship and connection to our Father. We must learn to walk with God daily. Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian desires to know God more. I hope, if you are receiving this message, you are one who desires to know God more.
My prayer for each of us is that in this new year, we attune our hearts to His. May His plans become ours. May we learn to live in surrender and obedience, have conversations with God daily, listen for His voice, and be who He planned for us to become.
Make seeking His plans for your life priority?
Prioritize your plans to include the most important plan of all: the health of your relationship with your Savior and the health of your soul?
Hebrews 13:20-21 ESV
“Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
May this new year be filled with His presence as we seek to please Him in all that we do!
Happy New Year!
