“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3
Hearts Being Healed is more than a name. This scripture is the ministry target of our conferences, and the outcome for many women at our Hearts Being Healed conferences. And yet, it is so much more than this.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! – 1 John 3:1
As women who want to emulate the behavior and character of our Lord and Savior Jesus, we want to also lavish love on His people, and we work hard to spoil the ladies who attend our HBH conferences with love, attention, truth, kindness, and grace, as well as spoil them physically with goodies and a fun experience. Yesterday’s conference was a great success by these standards!
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. – Colossians 3:12
We started the day by welcoming you in with a continental breakfast with several choices, and a beverage station with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.
One of the newest components of our conferences is the creation of the Prayer Team and New Believer Ministry. Thank you to Chico HBH board member Shirley Sprehn (on the left in the photo) for all her hard work to lead this ministry. She has created and donated much to make a special experience for the ladies who give their lives to Jesus for the first time, sending them home with gifts to help them in their new spiritual journey. Thank you, also for all the team members who support her in this important ministry, including Laura Carson shown here with Shirley.
If you’ve not attended one of our conferences yet, you’ll want to catch the next one in your area for the lunch experience. Chefs for Christ, the most beautiful, gracious, Jesus-imitators kind of men, prepare and serve a delicious lunch to us. Some ladies yesterday gave them a 5-star rating!
(P.S. Please “forget” this before next year… this is a delightful surprise with a great impact on our first time attendees, so we don’t want to tell them in advance about these special fellows’ ministry to us.)
Chefs for Christ is led by Pastor Bob Ouzts, who is also our Hearts Being Healed pastor. Here he is with his lovely wife, Terry.
We also have a lot of fun as they help us deliver door prizes to many ladies. I do mean many … I think we gave away about 170 gifts yesterday! They make it a lot more fun than just drawing a number … you must come and experience it for yourself!
Our Chico HBH board president, Donna Hottinger, was our Keynote Speaker yesterday where well over 300 ladies attended and looked forward to hearing her important message, “God’s Got This”. I sure hope you were there to hear this encouraging and inspiring message spoken from the her heart as she is living this message out while receiving chemotherapy and fighting cancer during this season.
Every conference concludes with a special experience after our Keynote Speaker’s address. If you’ve not yet attended one of our conferences, you’re going to want to follow us on Facebook and check our website routinely for information about upcoming events and conferences so that you can get in on the next opportunity. Jesus will meet you there!
Another great thing we offer are our after care classes by zoom or in person class in Oroville and sometime other locales. Arlene Hendrik (seated in photo) is the author of the book Treasures Out of Trauma, which is the text book used, and she is one of the class facilitators. To find out more about this class and why you should participate, see our previous blog titled, “Treasures Out of Trauma” on our HBH website or HBH Facebook page.
Another special thing we do at each of our conferences is give our attendees an opportunity to comment on everything about their conference experience on an Evaluation packet we provide in the conference bag you receive at registration. We take what you say very seriously, whether complimentary or not, and perhaps suggest tips on how to improve our conferences.
We conclude the day with a special drawing to win a handmade quilt, made with love especially to be given to one of our HBH attendees. To be eligible, attend the conference from beginning to end, and turn in your evaluation packet with your comments as you leave. This year our quilt was made and gifted to us by Rebecca Cook, the daughter of our long time Chico board member Maria Katanic, who designed and made a quilt for us for many years. She passed away last year one day after our conference, so Rebecca volunteered to make a quilt for us this year in honor of and in loving memory of her mother. Thank you, so much Rebecca!
Confidentiality and Privacy is a promise we make to our Speakers and attendees, and we take that very seriously, so you won’t find any photos or videos from those Speaker Sessions. We hold fast to this rule, and that as attendees who may not need privacy yourself, you still must honor our rule that the only photos allowed to be taken at our conference is at our Photo Booth and that you only publish those if you have permission from every person in your photo to publish it on social media or anywhere else.
However, we do want you to have photo souvenirs of this wonderful experience, so we have made a fun place for you to take photos with your besties. We’ve even furnished some fun dress-up items to enhance the fun! Come to our next confernce and take home some fun photos to remember your experience!
This is first-time HBH Conference attendees, mom and daughter Barb and Holly Palmer. They gave me their permission and blessing to post this on our blog.
Beautiful ladies, part of Chico HBH board: Melinda Skau, Arlene Hendrik, Patty Travis, and Janet Henman.
This is Jacqueline Pugh (on the left) and Trish Vanover. Jacqueline has been a Chico HBH board member for several years. She decorated our lunch room for us, creating some of the decorations herself. Trish has been a faithful volunteer at our conferences for many years, serving in various ways including Speaker, prayer partner, worship dancer, and she also makes jewelry which she has gifted to our board members and others in the past. I asked her to share some of her photos with us.

From Hearts Being Healed to you all:
Thank you to all who helped us put on a Holy Spirit and fun filled conference that saw many ladies healed from past traumas or hardened hearts, and many who gave their lives to Jesus for the first time.
