Saturate My Soul. By Christina Cannon
What do we do when challenging circumstances are difficult to accept? How do we choose to navigate them?
Recently, as I was preparing to lead a Treasures class, with a heavy heart and listening to worship music, I sat in my chair and pressed into the words I was hearing. God’s presence washed over me. The longer I sat and allowed the words to penetrate my weary soul, the better my spirit felt. I realized in that setting, we have to press in for as long as it takes.
How often have I sought God’s comfort, only to find my heart still wanting? Way too many. Sitting with Jesus for a moment is not sufficient. It cannot accomplish and produce the transformation needed in our hearts.
God’s lesson to me, and us all, is to never stop seeking Him. We must continue to press in for as long as it takes. God is after our hearts. We must learn to allow His presence to saturate our souls. It is in those moments that we experience His peace. The pain and sorrow may linger, and the circumstances may not change; it is our heart that transforms. We learn to trust Him. We learn that He is our source of strength and will never abandon us. God will be with us and carry us through our life journey. His presence is always with us.
Jeremiah 29:13
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
I Chron 16:11
“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!”
We must learn to continually and consistently abide. The only way to do life is by remaining connected to the vine. He is our life-source. It is death to our soul if we disconnect from our Father.
John 15:4
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.”
The fruit that we bear when we abide in Him is found in Gal 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
How do you abide?
Read/listen/study His word and apply it.
Listen to truth-filled worship music and godly messages.
Develop your relationship with your Father by daily spending sufficient quality time at His feet. Talk to Him throughout your day.
Listen for His voice. He speaks to us through many different avenues.
1 Thess 5:16-18 tells us to:
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit.”
Check out the song “What I’m Waiting For” by Doe Clarity. This is the song I mentioned at the beginning of this message that God used to comfort my weary heart.

Don’t give up; keep pressing in until your heart is saturated and refreshed by His presence of peace!
2 Thess 2:16-17
“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.”
