As I continue to look into healing from God I continue to see how God’s way is so different than the world’s way. Sometimes I think it’s hard for us to cross over from worldly thinking to Godly thinking.

We all want to be healed. Especially from those pains in our past that continue to rob us of peace in our lives. These memories no matter how far in the past they are, still linger in the back of our minds. At the most unexpected time they surface and the shame, anger, sadness of this event makes it mark on us once again.

All the modern day solutions of leaving our past behind and live in the now sound great, but they don’t last. There are millions of self help books to give us ways in which to conquer this and they work in the moment but not forever, and once again the memory comes back along with all of it’s emotions.

I am currently reading a book on the Holy Spirit. The book is called the Forgotten God by Pastor Francis Chan. It is the Holy Spirit that does the healing. Each pain is a separate one and is also healed one by one.

Pastor Chan brings to the surface how we are looking to God & to Jesus but have we forgotten all the Holy Spirit has to offer? Jesus told his disciples in John 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away for if I do not go away, the Holy Spirit (Helper) will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”

Pastor Chan goes on to explain all that the Holy Spirit is and what He does.

First, the Holy Spirit is a person.

John 14:16-17 says “And I will pray the Father (God) and He will give you another Helper (Holy Spirit) that He may abide with you forever.” 17. “The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” Here is a quote from Francis Chan; The Holy Spirit is a person that has a personal relationship with not only believers, as we have seen, but also The Father and the Son. Matthew 28:19; 2nd Corinthians 13:14

Second, the Holy Spirit is God. This is where the trinity comes from; God the Father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit.

This is where the trinity comes from; God the Father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Third, The Holy Spirit is eternal and holy.

Hebrews 9:14-15 says “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God. Cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. And for this reason, He (Holy Spirit) is the mediator of the new covenant by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant. That those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.” Did you catch that, the Holy Spirit is our mediator, our defense attorney to God!

Fourth, The Holy Spirit has His own mind and He prays for us.

Romans 7:27 “Now he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Praise God! He has sent us the Holy Spirit to indwell in us, to convict us so we don’t go back to the lifestyle or behavior that was once us. To intercede, for us, to heal us.

God’s Healing is something that takes place in the spiritual realm. A place we see dimly now but we will all have full vision of it in heaven. 1 Corinthians 13:12 God’s Holy Spirit is the healer, of who we were and who we now are.

I must admit I still have memories of my past rise up, but they no longer cause pain or shame, they are simply reminders of how grateful I am to God the Father that he would give me His Spirit to dwell within me. That my old person has died and a new spirit filled person lives! Glory be to God.

Romans 8: 1-2 “There is, therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” These scriptures are a promise I hold near and dear in my heart.

This is the way that God heals and His healing is eternal.
