The Light of Christ. By Laura Carson.
“He came to the very people he created- to those who should have recognized him, but they did not receive him. But those who embraced him and took hold of his name were given authority to become the children of God.” ~ John 1:11-12 (TPT)
The Jewish people had been given prophecies about the coming Messiah. The expected king of David’s line who would deliver Israel from foreign bondage and restore the glories of its golden age. But when the promised one came they did not recognize him.
In John 8:12 ” Again Jesus spoke to them saying, ‘ I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ “

Psalm 18:28 ” For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.” NKJV
Those of us who became the ‘children of God’ by asking Jesus into our lives, hopefully we have grown and matured in our faith and walk with the Lord. We have been given the Bible, God’s Word as guidance for our lives. Through our Bible Studies and teachings at church we hear about how best to share about Jesus. I have often heard that we are to be the light.
Our light gives meaning, direction and beauty to our world. We are the light in a dark world.
John 20:21 “Jesus repeated his greeting, “Peace to you! And He told them, “just as the Father has sent me, I’m now sending you.”
” But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.” Mark 13:32 NIV
We just passed the season of celebration of Christ’s birth, and gift giving. But our world has become so materialistic and terribly dark and sad. Folks could surely use examples of Christ’s light. That is my prayer, that I share the light of Christ.
May we all, in Jesus mighty name. Amen
